STORAGE AND MOVING
Can I use a Big Box container for both moving and storage?
Absolutely. Big Box Mobile containers are designed for both moving and storage — giving you the flexibility to pack once and use the same container throughout the entire process. Whether you’re relocating across town or need temporary storage during a renovation, you can keep the container on-site or have us pick it up and store it at our secure facility until you’re ready for delivery. It’s a stress-free, seamless solution for both short-term and long-term needs.
What makes Big Box Mobile a better alternative to other moving services?
With other movers, you’re required to pick up the truck, load it up and return it within a rushed timeframe. Otherwise, you pay for a second day! We offer the convenience of your moving truck being delivered right to your doorstep!
No need to worry about gas, insurance, or driving a moving truck. With our “Truck Service/Trailer Option”, you have of up to 48 hours to pack up your contents.
Need it longer? We offer ground level delivery service which provides a Big Box container to stay at an address for as long as you need with the option to bring it to storage in between moves or as needed.
We’re one of the only service providers that uses hoists and cranes to guarantee that your items stay level, rather than tilting your carefully packed container onto the truck trailer. This can have potentially damaging consequences for your fragile items!
How much time do I have to pack my container?
Unlike the competition, you won’t have a limited window of 8 or less hours before you have to load, move and return the moving truck. With our Truck Service/Trailer Option, you’ll have access to your Big Box unit for up to 48 hours so you can load and organize your belongings in peace. Need more time? Call us to go over your options including ground level delivery service with on or off site storage.
How do I access my bin if I store it with Big Box Mobile?
For maximum security, your belongings are not directly accessible when your bin is stored in our secure storage facility. If you need access to your belongings, give us a call or visit the office at least 24 hours in advance. We will move your container to an area on our property for safe access during business hours. The property can then be accessesed 7-days a week.
How much can I fit inside a standard container?
Our standard rental container is 20 feet long, offering approximately 1,170 cubic feet of storage space, enough to hold the contents of a 2–3 bedroom home, including furniture, appliances, boxes, and more. What sizes of containers do you offer?
For rentals, we offer 20-foot containers, the most popular and versatile option for residential and commercial use.
If you’re looking to buy a container, we also have 10′, 20′, 40′, and 53′ lengths available. All sizes come in standard 8.5′ height, with select models available as high-cube containers offering extra vertical space at 9.5′ tall, ideal for oversized items or custom builds. DELIVERY & PICK-UP
What does level delivery mean? Will the mobile unit ever be tilted?
Containers are delivered on a trailer or by crane. When we move it to our secure yard for storage we lift and load the container using state-of-the-art trucks and cranes. We take every precaution to ensure your items are not tilted or damaged in the process.
Our non-tilt promise does not end at just delivery and pick up. While your bin is unloaded and stored at our yard our forklift will never tilt your bin. Our horizontal and crane truck picks up the bin from the base keeping all four corners level while it gets loaded or unloaded.
How soon can I get a container to my house?
We take every customer’s needs very seriously and always try our best to accommodate and fit you in exactly when you need it. Depending on our schedule and previous commitments, we will always try to get your bin moved in the next available time slot.
During our busy season, we suggest booking your bin move at least 3 business days ahead to try and guarantee our availability. Speak to a professional today and see exactly how we can help you!
Can I choose what time of day to receive my container?
Typically we don’t promise the time of day for delivery or pick up. Our driver determines the most efficient route for the day which determines when they will arrive at your location. If you need to have the bin delivered or picked up at or by a specific time, we can save and guarantee that time slot for you by opting to choose an exact time to have the container delivered for a fee.
By opting for this EXACT ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) you can have your container delivered first in the morning or schedule it around closing times for your new home.
Do you deliver Big Box Mobile containers to apartment buildings?
No driveway? No problem. We’ll work with your apartment complex’s building manager to designate a drop-off and pick-up area. If need be, we can drop your mobile storage container off in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon. It’s important to obtain enough clearance for both the mobile storage container and the trailer it sits on.
I’m done with the container, what now?
Once you complete your move or finish using the container, simply give us a call to schedule a pickup date that works for you and remove the lock off the container.
Please have the container in a ‘broom clean’ condition. If the lock is still on the container restricting us access when we go to pick it up, we cannot take it back and you are still liable for rent and possibly an extra delivery charge.
How much space is needed for delivery?
We can deliver to most locations as long as there’s enough clearance for our tilt-deck truck to safely drop the container. Generally, you’ll need about 60 feet of straight clearance (the length of a large truck and trailer), 10 feet of width, and 14 feet of vertical clearance for the container to tilt off safely.
That said, we’re experienced at handling tight or tricky spots, including driveways, laneways, construction sites, and rural properties. If you’re unsure whether your location will work, just contact us. We’re happy to review photos or arrange a site check to make sure we can deliver without issue.

RENTAL TERMS & BILLING
How are mobile bin rental prices determined?
The cost of our containers and service comes down to rent and shipping costs. Delivery within or surrounding London, Ontario has discounted delivery fees for set townships. We don’t look at local deliveries as a way to make money. Any deliveries outside of the local townships are calculated by kilometres to your front door.

How long can I rent a container for?
You can rent a Big Box Mobile container for as long as you need. Whether it’s a few weeks during a home renovation or several months for a long-term project, our rental periods are completely flexible. Just let us know when you’re finished, and we’ll schedule pickup on your terms.
Do you offer short-term or long-term rental options?
Yes! We offer both short-term and long-term rental options to fit your needs. Whether you’re storing items for a quick move or need extended on-site storage, we’ve got you covered. There’s no commitment, and you can extend or end your rental anytime. Not sure you will need it for an entire month, give us a call and we can discuss weekly rentals.
How will my billing cycle work?
Here at Big Box Mobile, you are on a true month-to-month cycle, making your monthly anniversary date start the day of delivery. You are not locked into a contracted length.

Is there a damage deposit required?
No, we don’t charge a damage deposit for standard rentals. However, we do expect containers to be returned in good condition. Any significant damage beyond normal wear and tear may result in additional charges.
I really like my container, can I purchase it instead of renting?
Absolutely! Just about all of our units are for sale. Reach out to us in the office to discuss a buyout option and learn the cost of the unit you are renting.
Are there any hidden fees?
No hidden fees. At Big Box Mobile, we believe in transparent pricing. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying for upfront, including delivery, pickup, and monthly rental. If any additional services are requested, we’ll always provide a clear quote first.
CONTAINER FEATURES
Why is Big Box safe?
Ocean Containers are the most popular shipping option and are used for the majority of the world’s dry cargoes. Shipping containers aka Big Box Mobile Steel Containers are one of the most secure storage options you will come across. Consider what a shipping container is originally built for. Shipping containers are made to be an air-tight impenetrable storage solution which is used to transport goods around the world.
Does the container come with a lock?
Our spacious Big Box containers do not come with a lock. However, we do offer solid steel Alcatraz Locks that come with 4 keys for purchase. With the purchase of a lock, we will deliver it with the container. These locks are the most secure option as they fit seamlessly behind/under our steel lock boxes on the front of the container. You are welcome to use your own padlock, for better security make sure the padlock fits under our steel lock boxes.
How do I open and close my bin?
Our big mobile storage boxes can appear overwhelming to open. But in reality, it is fairly simple. To ensure proper technique and avoid issues, you must open the right-hand side door completely, before attempting to open the left side.
The most common layout of handles is two handles pointed towards the right-hand side of the right door. These handles have a small metal flap that needs to be spun upwards to allow you to lift the handles out of the slot they rest in.
Once you can lift the handles freely, with both handles in hand, turn them out and to the left opposite of where they were just once sitting. (If bin variation has handles facing each other you do the opposite for one handle then you are for the other, pulling both handles outwards from where they were sitting locked).
Once the handles reach across from where they were just sitting, you should hear a ‘pop’ sound which is the pressure seal releasing. You can now pull outwards and the door will be open.
Follow these steps for the left door after the right door is completely opened. Closing the bin, do the opposite, the left door closes first followed by the right.
